We extend our condolences to the family of George Floyd and to the many other victims of the systemic racism that persists in our country. We as a department share an ethical obligation to eradicate racism, intolerance, and discrimination, in any form, and to work towards greater equity. In our role as educators and mentors, we are committed to a campus-wide effort to address systemic institutional racism in our society, as well as within our own campus community. This is a pivotal moment in history and we all have a role to play in the sweeping change that can and must result.
